How it's made

Two buildings, one fortnight, one pair of hands at a time.

Most labels selling printed womenswear buy their cloth finished. We make ours. Greige cotton enters at Chakshu, is dyed or padded, printed, steamed, washed and finished, then travels to Sitapura to be cut and stitched into the piece that arrives at your door. It is why our blacks sit deep and even, why a print can exist in a run of ten, and why nothing is stitched until somebody wants it.

the black sits this deep because we print it ourselves

FROM THE PRINT TABLE
01

Chakshu

Dyed and printed

Greige cotton is scoured, dyed or padded, then printed digitally on a Konica Minolta N8 — a Japanese machine, running ink imported from Japan. This is where the colour is decided.

02

Chakshu

Steamed and washed

Steam fixes the pigment, washing clears it, finishing sets the hand. It is why the blacks sit deep and even.

03

Sitapura

Cut to your order

Nothing is cut until you buy. Your piece is laid, marked and cut for you — which is why it takes a fortnight.

04

Sitapura

Stitched and sent

Stitched, checked, pressed and packed by the same small team, then dispatched to your door anywhere in the world.
